Band History
Chainsaw are a blues/rock cover band who have been playing regular venues throughout Yorkshire and other county’s for many years.
The band originally consisted of Fearny (vocals), Martin (Drums), Dick (Bass/Vocals) and Vince (Lead, Guitar/Vocals). Over the years Chainsaw has featured (though not all at the same time), Ken and Mick on Guitar, chris on saxaphone, young Stevie Stockham and Phil on bass, long serving mixing man Tank and our one and only Cubie on vocals. The band finally came to a tear jerking end when Cubie had to retire due to work commitments, substance abuse and haemorrhoids.
Of course, the rest of band wanted to continue playing and decided to reform as Street Legal with the arrival of a female Vocalist.
The band then consisted of 5 members who were:
Samantha (Lead Vocals),
Martin (Drums),
Mick (Guitar/Vocals),
Phil (Bass/Vocals
Lee (Guitar).
The band also decided to refresh the set list and adopt more rock sounds as well as blues. Just like Chainsaw, members of Street Legal came and went, seeing the arrival of two more female vocalists and various bass players.
To date Street Legal consists of
Lisa (Lead Vocals),
Martin (Drums),
Mick (Guitar/Vocals),
Dave (Bass/Vocals)
Lee (Guitar).
Around 7 years ago the opportunity arose for Chainsaw to make a comeback and saw
Cubie (Vocals) Phil (Bass/Vocals) joining Street Legal members to reform Chainsaw. In 2006 the band has also been seen featuring James Cubie on rhythm and lead guitar on a few songs.
Just recently Lisa, Lee and Mick have been doing acoustic gigs going under the name of The Sideliners. They have done a several festivals and also a large charity gig in Skipton and a live appearance on Radio Leeds in 2010 as well as regular pub venues
So there you have it. Two great bands joined as one, or is that 3?
